Verdiana Nkwabi Macha is the Managing Partner of the Firm. She is the Senior Advocate of the Court of Appeal, High Court of Tanzania and Courts subordinate thereto. She is an Arbitrator (Associate Member) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators-London, Panel Member of Arbitrators for the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators, and once, a Panel Member of Arbitrators for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID-member of the World Bank Group), Washington.

She manages Commercial Litigation, Tax Law, Insurance, Maritime Law, and Labour Law. Undertakes and coordinates Legislative and Regulatory Review Consultancies.

She is recognized for her unrivaled experience in commercial litigation, legislative and regulatory review consultancies. Key legislative and regulatory reviews she has handled include:

Drafting of the Rwanda Road Act;
Rwanda National Road Agency Act;
Rwanda Axle Load Control Regulations;
Drafting of the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Project (DART) and;
Development and harmonization of Environmental Impact Assessment regulations and guidelines in East Africa.

She was also the National Coordinator in the harmonization of Legal and Institutional aspects of Lake Victoria environmental management program in the Phase I – UNEP/UNDP Joint Project on Environmental Law and Institutions in Africa- East African Sub-Regional Project, where she played a key role in the research on the Legal and Institutional Aspects of Environmental Management in Tanzania.

Ms. Macha has handled important cases in the commercial disputes, construction, insurance, and banking sectors. She is held in high esteem by the courts, clients and peers. Her previous experience consists of a successful seven (7) years career at the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) as the Chief Legal Counsel and Company Secretary and over five (5) years’ experience as the Chief Legal Counsel and Company Secretary for the National Insurance Corporation.

She gained seventeen (17) years of consulting skills and experience at the Attorneys General Chambers- Civil and International Law Department as a Principal State Attorney.

In her long and distinguished legal career, she has participated in many high-level negotiations both on the side of foreign investors, local companies, government and public corporations.
