Somaliland declared its independence in the year 1991 as Republic of Somaliland.

There is no formal legislation in regard to registration of trademarks in Somaliland, however its recognized by publication of a cautionary notice and such publication does not amount to official registration.

Each mark should be filed in a separate cautionary notice, but each cautionary notice may comprise description of goods and services.

It is advised to make publication of each mark in two years period for the purpose of awareness.
